In June 2024, I was invited by the curators of Radio Choreography to initiate a radio movement workshop during their Radio (non-)Conference at Stegi Radio, Athens. ‘Barks to chimes’ was the workshop that was proposed and explored anger and rage as transformative practices.
Curators’ fragment: “Radio (non-)Conference is an experimental format at the intersection of durational performance, live radio show, performative symposium and public forum. It invites artists, thinkers and activists to share sonic and body-based practices around themes of migration, counter-memory, feminist perspectives and movements of resistance. Coming from different disciplines, backgrounds, and geopolitical contexts, the invited contributions unfold the possibilities of radio to amplify marginalised voices, disseminate poetic acts of dissent and instigate being-in-common through collective acts of listening.
The second Radio (non-)Conference tunes into multiple histories, narratives and bodies from Athens, branching out to the Mediterranean area, to connect audiences, spaces and voices from different times and places in a trans-local community that disobeys the categories of national and international, central and peripheral. It transformed the space of Onassis AiR into a temporary radio station while the audience was invited to listen to, with a limited physical attendance.
11:30 – 13:00 | Radio (non-)Conference Pt.1 | Embodied Multitudes
Embodied Multitudes taps into the separation of sound and vision, body and voice, time and place, identity and multitude. Dancing through the cracks of these partitions, we explore the voice as an extension of the body, sounds as bodies of vibrations, and multiplicity of identities, interpretations and forms of agency these gaps can set into motion.”
